Hogwarts Portraits
Wait - did that portrait just move? Yes. most likely. In the wizarding world, images in photographs or paintings have their own personalities, thanks to various magical means. In Hogwarts, many grand paintings line the walls, offering advice or even insults, depending on who the painting's subject is. Sometimes paintings even leave their frames to hang out with other paintings, such as the Fat Lady portrait, who is supposed to be guarding the Gryffindor common room! It is tradition that Hogwarts headmasters sit for their portrait, which can hang in Hogwarts long after their passing - giving sage words of wisdom to their successor. Apparently, the more time the sitter spends with their painting, the more accurate it will be!
